Dorothy J. Berscheit, age 78, of Grey Eagle, died peacefully on Thursday December 2, 2010 at her home in Grey Eagle, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 6 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ron Dockendorf officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call on Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church in Grey Eagle. Christian Mothers will pray at 9 a.m. Monday morning.
Dorothy Julia Althoff was born October 2, 1932 in Cold Spring to Edward and Johanna (Ress) Althoff. Dorothy attended teacher training in Little Falls. She taught from 1952 until 1961 in Crow Wing County District 39 and District 49, Merrifield, and Brainerd. She was united in marriage to Lester Berscheit on June 26, 1961 at St. Mathias Catholic Church in St. Mathias, Minnesota.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle, Christian Mothers, and St. Frances Mission Group.
Survivors include her husband, Lester Berscheit of Grey Eagle; children, John (Denise) Berscheit of South Bend, IN, William (Julie) Berscheit of Grey Eagle, Peter (Rosemary) Berscheit of Grey Eagle, David (Holly) Berscheit of Melrose, James Berscheit of Tirana, Albania, Mary (Mark) Freitag of Omaha, NE and Ruth (Bruce) Tracey of San Diego, CA; grandchildren; Nicholas, Anthony, Nadia, Anika, Maggie, Emily, Julia, Becky, Amanda, Amy, Jacob, Leah, Samson, Andrew, John, Joseph, Catherine and Luke; brothers and sisters, Dorreen (the late, Gordon) Berscheit of Long Prairie, Paul Althoff of Brainerd, Edward (Mary) Althoff of Lewiston MT, Mary Thorpe of Littleton, CO, Kenneth (Gail) Althoff of Grand Forks, ND and Joan (Bob) Isder of Little Falls.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Peter Althoff.
Serving as casket bearers will be Debbie Feldewerd, Nancy Primus, Gary Berscheit, Jen Grammond, Robert Isder and Linda Berens. Cross bearer will be Amy Berscheit and scripture bearer will be Maggie Berscheit. Honorary bearers will be the St. Frances Mission Group.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle.
