Dorothea Isabelle Meyer was born on September 4, 1921 in West Union, Minnesota to Herman and Elizabeth (Grapperhaus) Bentfield. Dorothy spent her life spread across three states -- Minnesota, California and Texas. Dorothy moved her family to California in 1952, where her and her husband of 58 years, Jerome "Bud", would raise their three children. Dorothy and Bud returned to Minnesota in 1988. Bud despised the cold weather, so in 1996 he convinced Dorothy to navigate south to San Antonio, TX where their youngest daughter, Renie, lived. Bud passed away on December 17, 2000. In the spring of 2001 Dorothy decided she wanted to return home to Minnesota. She enjoyed her last seven years living in Sauk Centre, spending time with family and close friends, watching great grandchildren play sports and receive First Communions. Dorothy had many hobbies, among her favorite were playing cards, playing solitaire on the computer and winning at cribbage. She also enjoyed bowling, watching old Westerns, quilting, crossword puzzles, baking and calling her family to give them the latest news from Sauk Centre.
She is survived by her three children, Geraldine "Jerry" Terfehr of Sauk Centre, Maureen "Renie" Maya of Lodi, California and Jerome "Buddy" Meyer of San Leandro, California. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Jeff, Sheri, Kristine, Doug, Stefanie, and Jorja, and 10 great grandchildren, Toni, Elizabeth, Veronica, Katherine, Rebecca, Ashley, Sophia, Landon, Jeremiah, and Taylor.
