Donald "Don" Spehn

Donald L. “Don” Spehn, age 79 of Sauk Centre, passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 25, 2019.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 1 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Sauk Centre.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home and from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5:15 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Donald Leo Spehn was born November 17, 1939 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Roman and Louise (Kramer) Spehn.  He was united in marriage June 7, 1958 to Janice Gruse at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Don was a police officer with the Brooklyn Center Police Department for 29 years. After retiring in 1994, Don and Jan moved to Sauk Centre. During retirement, Don enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and fishing.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Spehn of Sauk Centre; children, Steve (Cindy) Spehn of Kilkenny, Julie Spehn of Coon Rapids, Stacy Hutchinson of Brooklyn Park, Jeff (Colleen) Spehn of Champlin, and Scott (Nicko) Spehn of Shakopee; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; and father and mother-in-law.
