Donald Herbert Timp was born June 15, 1943 in New Munich, MN to Alphonse and Martha (Beuning) Timp. On June 28, 1969 he married Betty Raisl at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. Don worked at Glenwood GMC as a machinist until it closed. In 1970, Don worked as a janitor at the catholic school in New Munich. He liked to tell stories about keeping the old boilers working. However, with farming in his blood, he found a job working as a turkey farm manager at Sandy Hill in 1971. He toiled raising turkeys for 3 years at Sandy Hill before moving south of New Munich to a new position raising turkeys on a larger farm which grew in size each of the five years he worked there. The farm was sold to an outside party which led Don to search for a new career. In 1982, Don and Betty leased a building in New Munich and opened Don & Betty's Leaning Post. Here he socialized and had fun with the members of the community until he found a job working for Freeport Co-op Creamery as the manager of their feed shed. In 2009, he retired from the co-op. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Don enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and also loved traveling to Montana to spend time with Betty's family.
