Donald F. "Don" Schwegman, age 72 of Sauk Centre, died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 6 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. James Statz will officiate with inurnment following at Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church Monday from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Donald Frank Schwegman was born September 23, 1938 in Getty Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Clements and Rose (Schulzetenberg) Schwegman. On May 2, 1959 he married Marilyn "Tudi" Kane at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. The couple farmed in Getty Township. He had served on the Meire Grove Creamery board for 20 years and as a supervisor on the Getty Township board for 20 years, and was a former member of the Greenwald Lions Club. He retired from farming in 1999 and they moved to Sauk Centre.
Don was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, the Crosier Apostolate of Onamia, and the Melrose Council of the Knights of Columbus.Don enjoyed golfing and fishing, watching sports of any kind, and attended many high school games. He especially enjoyed attending St. John's University football games.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn "Tudi" Schwegman of Sauk Centre; two children, Mary Meyer (special friend, Todd Tomsche) of Sauk Centre and Mark (Lori) Schwegman of Milaca; three grandchildren, Marcus, Hannah, and Owen Meyer; two step-grandchildren, Phillip and Nick Sam; great grandson, Zayden Meyer; sisters, Sally O'Gara of Mankato, Evelyn Botz of St. Cloud, Lil (Jack) Larson of Brooklyn Park; and brother, Ray (Emily) Schwegman of St. Peter; brother-in-law, Jim Kane of Sun Lakes, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marina Proell; and brother, Clarence Schwegman.
Serving as urn bearer will be his son, Mark Schwegman. Honorary bearers will be Paul and Pat Borgmann, Jack and Reg Sunderman, Al and Maureen Luetmer, Art and JoAnn Middendorf, Joe and Becky Eibensteiner, Harold and Linda Borgmann.
