Donald F. Orth, age 84 of Sauk Centre, died Sunday, June 10, 2012 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Military honors provided by Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and at the church Thursday one hour prior to the service. Parish prayers will be held at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday evening followed by the Knights of Columbus and Catholic United at 7 p.m.
Donald Frederick Orth was born May 30, 1928 in Sauk Centre Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Lambert and Mary (Bromenshenkel) Orth. After graduating from Sauk Centre High School he enlisted in the United States Army serving in the Airborne division from 1952 to 1954. After his honorable discharge, Don continued his education with a Vo-Ag program. On August 7, 1956 he married Jeanette Kemper at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre and the couple farmed in Sauk Centre Township for 17 years. Don then began employment at St. John's University and worked there until retiring in 1990. He also owned and operated Don's Carpet Cleaning and later worked for Orth's Cleaning Service. Don enjoyed working in his retirement years at Coborns and then Walmart.
Donald was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, St. Paul's Catholic United, and Bishop Busch Council #4863 Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jeanette Orth of Sauk Centre; daughter, Maureen (Scott) Laube of Foley, son, Joel (Brenda) Orth of Avon; grandsons, Shaun Beilke of Sauk Centre and Donald "DJ" Orth of St. Cloud; brothers and sisters, Walter Orth of St. Cloud, Leonard (Edna) Orth of Sauk Centre, Eymard (Lucille) Orth of Melrose, Marian Cameron of Fargo, Elmer (Delores) Orth of Sauk Centre, Philip (Dorothy) Orth of Waite Park, Mildred Morgel of Waite Park, Richard (Mary Ann) Orth of Sauk Centre, and Dorothy Orth of Sauk Centre; and many nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Lambert and Mary Orth; brothers-in-law, Tom Cameron and Steve Morgel; and sister-in-law, Lucille Orth.
Serving as casket bearers will be Paul Orth, Steve Orth, Mark Orth, Pat Kulzer, Julie Mortezaee, Mike Parker, and Jim Bosl. Cross bearer will be Donna Parker and scripture bearer will be Laurie Pelkey. Gift bearers will be Walter Orth and Leonard Orth. Lector will be Laurie Pelkey. Serving as Eucharistic minister will be Eymard Orth.
