Donald Fritzlar

Donald H. "Don" Fritzlar, age 84 of Sauk Centre, died Thursday, October 29, 2015 at CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Jeremy Thies officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard with interment following in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre.

Donald Henry Fritzlar was born April 19, 1931 in Elrosa, Minnesota to John and Theodora (Schwanke) Fritzlar. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On May 7, 1957 he married Eileen C. Ebensteiner at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. The couple resided in Sauk Centre where Don proudly owned and operated Don's Downtown Standard. Later, Don was a mechanic and a school bus driver for 33 years in the Sauk Centre School District. Playing cards and enjoying a few rounds of golf were some of his favorite pastimes. A prime rib dinner accompanied by a Manhattan was his most satisfying meal!

Don was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Bishop Busch Council 4863 Knights of Columbus, Sauk Centre Lions Club, Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853, and American Legion Post 67.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Eileen Fritzlar of Sauk Centre; two children, John Fritzlar of Long Prairie and Sue Schurhamer of Sauk Centre; five grandchildren, Steve (Melissa) Schurhamer, Troy (Crystal) Fritzlar, Sara Schurhamer (Jeremy Similey), Staci (Alex) Whitley, and Ammy (Tim) Woeste; twelve great-grandchildren; and sister, Walda (Lars) Anderson of Belgrade.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arnold Fritzlar; and sisters, Alice Rosenow and Lorraine Erickson.
