Donald V. "Don" Bromenshenkel, age 61 of Sauk Centre, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 9 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m. followed by St. Paul's Catholic United at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Donald Victor Bromenshenkel was born October 15, 1951 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Leonard and Leona (Minette) Bromenshenkel. He was united in marriage to Linda Rousslange on December 16, 1972 at Our Lady of the Angels Church in Sauk Centre. Before Don started farming he worked at Emblom Brothers, Ostendorf Construction, and Rousslang Transfer. He and Linda started farming full time in 1974, which they have been doing ever since. While farming, Don also performed custom Bobcat work and custom harvesting and spraying.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre and a 55 year member of St. Paul's Catholic United. Don was also a former member of the Sauk Centre Eagles, and usher at church. Don enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, a morning cup of coffee with friends, and going to the men's Wednesday supper club.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Bromenshenkel of Sauk Centre; children, Tim (Missy) Bromenshenkel of Tuscola, Illinois, Brad (Melissa Churchill) Bromenshenkel of Wahpeton, North Dakota, Bill Bromenshenkel of St. Cloud; step-grandchildren Sophia Jones and Elle Jones; mother, Leona Bromenshenkel; brothers and sisters, Darlene (Dick) Rousslang of Sauk Centre, Jack Bromenshenkel of California, Karen (Rich) Dirkes of Sauk Centre, Mary (Butch Moritz) Sunderman of Sauk Centre, Jan Bromenshenkel of Sauk Centre, Deb "Bubbles" (Jim Deters) Bromenshenkel of Sauk Centre, Wayne (Patricia) Bromenshenkel of Sauk Centre, Anita "Toots" (Bill Berg) Kaiser of Sauk Centre, and Randy (Kim) Bromenshenkel of Albany; father-in-law Lawrence Rousslange; brothers-in-law, Duane (Luann) Rousslange, and Keith Rousslange; sister-in-law, Deb (John) Metcalf; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Bromenshenkel on December 14, 2009; brother, Joseph Bromenshenkel on October 14, 1981; and mother-in-law, Helen Rousslange on January 10, 2005.
Serving as casket bearers will be Blake Bromenshenkel, Derek Bromenshenkel, Eric Bromenshenkel, Tony Sunderman, Tom Rousslang, Josh Rousslange, Eric Rousslange, and Dan Van Drehle. Cross bearer will be Joby Van Drehle and scripture bearer will be Andrew Rousslange. Honorary bearers will be Butch Moritz, Fritz Didier, Gary Marthaler, Ken Leukam, Bill Minette, Terry Merten, and Jerry Minette.
