Delbert J. "Del" "Tex" Doubrava, age 71 of Sauk Centre, died surrounded by his family on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the CentraCare Health Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 12 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Eberhard Schefers officiating and Rev. Greg Paffel concelebrating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m. followed by the rosary at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Delbert Joseph Doubrava was born February 18, 1946 in Melrose, Minnesota to Edwin and Colette (Ley) Doubrava. Del grew up on the family farm. He married Judy Winter on June 15, 1974 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Del's job when he and Judy first got married was car crushing. Over the years he has also done welding, mechanic work at Trucker's Inn for 27 years and Kane Transport for several years, and was a truck driver. He was a jack of all traits. Del was also the "jokester" of the family.

He loved camping with his family, especially Legionville Camp-O-Ree, raising money for the children to go to camp. He also loved fishing, playing any and every card game, playing games on the computer, and playing guitar. Del also wrote many poems. He has received awards and trophies for his poems from California to England. Many poems are still being found and treasured by his family today. When he was younger he enjoyed riding horses and still enjoyed spending time with the horses and dogs.

Del was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Doubrava of Sauk Centre; children, Danelle (Don) Rahn of Kensington, Michael (fiancé, Angie Smith) Doubrava of Apple Valley, Bob (Julie Schmachel) Doubrava of Fergus Falls, and Diane Dow of Sauk Centre; brother, Dave (Carol) Doubrava of Sauk Centre; seven grandchildren, Josh Rahn, Jessica Gross, Kurt Zenzen, Justice Doubrava, Emily Gillies, Collette Doubrava, and Rebecca Doubrava; and four great-grandsons, Carter and Keaton Rahn and Trey and Easton Gross.

Del was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Colette Doubrava; and son-in-law Joe Zenzen.

Serving as casket bearers will be Josh Rahn, Tim Winter, Brent Winter, Brandon Winter, Jason Hoeschen and Derek Bienusa. Cross bearers will be Justice Doubrava and Roxi Hoeschen and scripture bearer will be Kurt Zenzen. Reader will be Denise Koller and Eucharistic ministers will be Rosie Winter and John Lahr. Gift bearers will be Del's four children. Mass servers will be Madison Denk, Megan Heverson, and Alicia Jennissen.
