David R. Thieschafer, age 59, of Sauk Centre, died surrounded by his family on Monday, April 18, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital after a 3 year battle with Leukemia.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21st at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
David Robert Thieschafer was born March 15, 1952 in Sauk Centre to Robert and Erma (Johnson) Thieschafer. He married Nancy Ebensteiner on June 14, 1975 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. He was employed building silos from 1970 to 1975, he farmed from 1975 to 1987 and he worked as a dozer operator for The Local 49ers Union for the past 20 years. He was passionate about his work. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, restoring his antique Allis Chambers tractor, car and tractor shows, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and the Local 49ers Union.
Survivors include his wife Nancy of Sauk Centre; children, Paul Thieschafer of Sauk Centre, Patrick (Trish) Thieschafer of Belgrade, Michael (Amy) Thieschafer of Sauk Centre, Jennifer (Dan) Borgmann of Sauk Centre, Katherine (Chris) VanderWeyst of Alexandria; 7 grandchildren; his father, Robert (Gen) Thieschafer of Sauk Centre; brothers and sisters; Donna (Ken) Mertes of Grand Rapids, Gail (Jim) Joerger of Garfield, Marion (Tim) Ruegemer of Villard, James (Brenda) Thieschafer of Waite Park, John (Janet) Thieschafer of Sauk Centre and Jane (Steve) Stassen of Kerkhoven; and sister-in-law, Beth Thieschafer of Melrose.
He was preceded in death by his mother Erma on November 19, 1986, and his brother, Glen on June 1, 2009.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jim Thieschafer, John Thieschafer, Jim VonWahlde, Duane Berns, Jim Joerger and Steve Stassen. Cross bearer will be McKenzie Thieschafer and scripture bearer will be Trish Thieschafer. Honorary bearers will be his grandchildren: Breanna Thompson, McKenzie Thieschafer, Olivia Thieschafer, Bree Thieschafer, Aiden Borgmann, Landon Thieschafer and Jackson VanderWeyst.
