David Schneider

David P. Schneider, age 81 of Sauk Centre, died Thursday, August 14 at Pine Haven at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 18 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider will officiate. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery with military honors provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Dave was born in Elkton, Minnesota on December 29, 1926 to John and Mary (McGreavy) Schneider. He graduated from St. John's University and furthered his education at the University of North Dakota. On April 12, 1948 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth "Bette" (Lane) Schneider at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. He enjoyed doing many things and worked mainly as a teacher, farmer and U.S.D.A. Meat Inspector. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre and had many hobbies including woodworking, reading, and exercising.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bette Schneider of Sauk Centre; children, Theresa Schneider of Welcome, Katherine (Edward) Green of Willmar, David (Susan) Schneider, II of San Diego, California, Joseph (Susan) Schneider of Kailua Kona, Hawaii, Rev. Todd Schneider of Sauk Centre, Sam (Lisa) Schneider of Blythwood, South Carolina, and Amy (Eugene) Poepping of Sauk Centre; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Standal of Detroit Lakes; brothers, Conrad (Bernice) Schneider of Aitkin and Charles "Chuck" (Mary) Schneider of Cold Spring.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (McGreavy) Schneider; brothers, Bob and John Schneider.

Serving as casket bearers will be Jake Uselman, Raphael Scarfone, Eugene Poepping, Jay Kirckof, Jonathan Schneider, Joshua Schneider, Shawn Hoffroggee, and Jacob Poepping. Cross bearer will be Gabrielle Poepping and scripture bearers will be Gemma and Marita Poepping.

Memorials preferred to St. Paul's Catholic Church.
