David Klasen

David J. Klasen, age 72, of St. Anthony, died peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2015 surrounded by his family at home after a long courageous battle with cancer.

A Mass to celebrate the life of David will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony, MN with Fr. Cletus Connors, OSB officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church in St. Anthony, MN. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m. Monday evening.

David John Klasen was born August 13, 1942 in St. Rosa, MN to Tony and Adella (Toenies) Klasen. He attended school in St. Rosa, MN. He joined the National Guard and trained in Missouri and California. He married Mary Ann Beuning on October 19, 1963 in St. Rosa, MN. They lived in Holdingford and he worked at Polar Manufacturing. He began farming in Freeport in 1964 and in 1967 bought their farm near St. Anthony where he loved his land for over forty years. David and Mary Ann were blessed with four children and 52 wonderful years together. David enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, attending auctions, casino trips, pulling rippies with his friends but most importantly, spending time with those he cherished most, his family. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Anthony Men's Society, and the Albany American Legion Post 482.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Klasen of Albany; sons Randy (Mary) Klasen of Albany, Lee (Lois) Klasen of Inver Grove Heights, Glen (Julie) Klasen of Albany and Patrick (Jill) Klasen of Albany; grandchildren, John (Marie), Kristi (Kevin), Kelly, Kassie, Rachel, Zachary, Jack, Ben and Eli; great-grandchildren, Ella, Logan, Myla and Jacob; brothers Vernon (Marlene) Klasen of Melrose, Mickey (Kathy) Klasen of Melrose, Jerry (Patricia) Klasen of New Richmond, WI, Daniel (Jeanette) Klasen of Hudson, WI, Gary (Jocelyn) Klasen of Gallup, NM and; sisters Marilyn (Ken) Bergman of Grey Eagle, Judy Hennen of Freeport and Mary Lee (Mike) Koetter of Freeport.

David was preceded in death by his parents Tony and Adella (Toenies) Klasen; mother and father-in-law Jerome and Lillian Beuning; grandparents, John and Anna Klasen, Gerhard and Mina Toenies; brother-in-law Ed Hennen.

Serving as casket bearers will be his grandchildren, John Klasen, Kristi Spohn, Kelly Klasen, Kassie Klasen, Rachel Klasen, Zachary Klasen and Jack Klasen. Cross bearer will be his grandson, Ben Klasen and scripture bearer will be his grandson, Eli Klasen. Honorary casket bearers will be Jerry Voller, David Voller and Donald Voller.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
