David Hartmann

David L. "Dave" Hartmann, age 58, of Sauk Centre died after a battle with cancer on Tuesday, July 25 at St. Michael's Hospital/Hospice in Sauk Centre.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider and Rev. Al Stangl concelebrating. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery with military honors by Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5:15 p.m. follow by the Sauk Centre United Veterans prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Friday evening.

David Hartmann was born January 20, 1948, in Little Falls, Minnesota to Al and Thelma (Chirhart) Hartmann. He graduated from Fr. Pierz Memorial High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1971 and is a Vietnam veteran. He was part owner of Hartmanns' Store in Pierz for many years. Dave graduated from St. Cloud Technical College in 1990. He was employed by Molitor Excavating in Waite Park for 7 years. Dave married Barbara Allen on August 6, 1994, at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. He was employed by the City of Sauk Centre Public Works from 2001 to present. He was a member of the Sauk Centre Lions, Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, and St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Dave loved Sauk Centre and took pride in taking care of the streets and parks. He enjoyed fishing, walking, biking, and was a true handyman.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hartmann of Sauk Centre; children, Jennifer Hartmann (Jason Egge) of Royalton, and Michael Hartmann of Minneapolis; sisters and brothers, Mary Kay McCormack (Mike) of Omaha, NE; Don Hartmann (Joy) of Salt Lake City, UT; Gary Schons (Judy) of San Diego, CA; Nancy Smoke of Highland, CA; and Joan Eighner (Dan) of Paynesville; and step-brother Lloyd Boeder (Donna) of Pierz.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bob Hartmann.

Serving as casket bearers will be Lloyd Boeder, Steve Shelley, John Thielen, Roy Lease, Brian Lewis, Dave Beilke, Bill Berg, Fred Voller, and John Olson. Cross bearer will be Lisa Leen. Honorary bearers will be Paul Froseth, Tom Johnson, Butch Wessel, Amor Himsl, Bruce Westbrock, Marty Sunderman, Karen Jennissen, and Carol Inderrieden.

Memorials are preferred.
