David J. Esselman, age 67 of Savage, died unexpectedly on Monday, June 11, 2007 at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota from an accident.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany with Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church gathering area.
David J. Esselman was born March 23, 1940 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Henry and Ruth (Jackson) Esselman. He graduated from St. John's University in 1963. He married Louise Harlander on August 17, 1963 in Albany. They raised three children, Sue, Craig, and Karen. Louise died February 24, 1983. David worked 23 years at Control Data Corp. in Bloomington, retiring in 1986. He continued to work various jobs after retirement. He enjoyed dancing, volleyball, softball, and coaching which he did for 20 years. David was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Bloomington.
Survivors include his children, Sue DePrima (Joe) of San Jose, CA, Craig Esselman (Melissa) of Farmington, and Karen Batt (Keith) of Bellingham, WA; six grandchildren; step mother, Nellie Esselman of St. Cloud; fiancé, DJ Pallum of Savage; brothers, Donald Esselman (Janice) of Coon Rapids, Gerald Esselman (Renee) of Plymouth, Wayne Esselman (Janet) of St. Cloud, and Dale Esselman of St. Cloud; brothers-in-law, Louis Harlander (Fran) of Maple Grove, Tom Harlander (Deb) of Shoreview, and John Harlander (Sandra) of Albany; sister-in-law, Mary Harlander-Locke (Bob) of St. Cloud.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ruth Esselman; and wife, Louise Esselman.
Serving as casket bearers will be Allen Esselman, Dan Esselman, Tom Esselman, Gary Esselman, Louis Harlander, and Bob Harlander-Locke.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
