Dale Melin

Dale H. Melin, age 84 of Sauk Centre, died Thursday, September 6, 2012 at his home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 11 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Marty Porter officiating.

Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday morning.Dale Harlen Melin was born July 8, 1928 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Lawrence and Mary (Michael) Melin. After graduating from Patrick Henry High School, Dale attended the University of Minnesota. He went on to work at Creamette where he met and later married Betty Maihack on June 23, 1951 at Zion Lutheran Church in Crown, Minnesota. Dale served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge, the couple moved throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. Dale raised registered pork breeding stock and later bought and sold feeder pigs. In 1958, their son, Jim, was born. The family settled in Sauk Centre in 1969. Dale loved to work, fish, hunt, shake dice, and visit with friends.

Dale was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He is survived by his son, Jim Melin of Sauk Centre.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife Betty on January 21, 2011; parents, Lawrence and Mary Melin; and sister, Irene Ritter.
