Cyril Meyer

Cyril H. Meyer, 84 of Sauk Centre died Saturday, April 19, 2003 at St. Michael?s Hospital in Sauk Centre.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22nd at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Sauk Centre, with Rev. James Statz officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with military honors by Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. United Veterans of Sauk Centre will pray at 6 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m.

Cyril H. Meyer was born on May 24, 1918 in Millwood Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Frank and Rose (Herzog) Meyer. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Cyril married Sophia E. Schley on June 5, 1943 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Las Vegas, Nevada. They lived in Sauk Centre where he was employed by Grainbelt Beer Distributorship. After his retirement Cyril drove school bus for Sauk Centre Public Schools.He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Paul F. Donart VFW Post, #2853, and the Sauk Centre Seniors. Cyril enjoyed deer hunting, fishing year-round and was an avid card player. He enjoyed town-team baseball and the Minnesota Twins.

He is survived by his children, Katherine Kray (Marvin) of Willmar, Beverly Nett (Steve) of Winona, Lillian McCawley (Michael) of Brainerd, Lois Krick (Tom), Cynthia Stepan (Maurie) and Janice Kane (Tom) all of Sauk Centre; brother, Joseph Meyer of Missouri; 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Cyril was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sophia on March 24, 1998; brothers, Walter, Archibald, George and Roman; sisters, Marcella, Alice, Leona, Carolyn and Rose.Casket bearers will be sons-in-law, Marv Kray, Steve Nett, Mike McCawley, Tom Krick, Maurice Stepan and Tom Kane. Cross bearer will be Kenny Meyer.

Memorials are preferred.
