Cyril Felling

Cyril J. Felling, Sr., age 92 of Sauk Centre, passed away surrounded by family Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 13 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery with military honors provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday evening.

Cyril John Felling was born September 18, 1921 in Lake George Township, Stearns County, Minnesota, to Joseph and Veronica (Laubach) Felling. After attending school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in Okinawa, Japan during World War II. When he was honorably discharged, he returned to farm in Sauk Centre. On September 24, 1947 he married Elsie Eibensteiner at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove. The couple farmed until they semi-retired in 1982 and moved to their home on Sauk Lake. For the past five years, Cyril resided at Fairway Pines.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre, the Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853, Minnesota Milk Producers, Farmers Union, Holstein Association, and Catholic United Financial. Cyril enjoyed farming, raising his registered Duroc hogs, traveling, playing cards and loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Merle J. (Kathy) Felling of Sauk Centre, Linda (David) Ripka of Minnetonka, Earl (Darlene) Felling of Albany, Cyril (Deb) Felling, Jr. of Sauk Centre, and Nancy (Ken) Halverson of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Merle C. (Sharee) Felling, Michael Felling, Brenda (Pat) Jennissen, Bonnie (Paul) Radjenovich, Samuel (Kim Holpp) Ripka, Mark Felling, Jim (Megan) Felling, Greg Felling, Ben Felling, Priya Felling, Jennifer (Pete) Nelson, Jason (Marie) Felling, Jessica (Zach) Thompson, Jeanna (Ryan) Borgmann, Jill Felling, Dayna (Jesse Erickson) Halverson, Shane Halverson, and Ryan Halverson; 22 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother, Rudolph Felling of St. Cloud; and sisters, Delores (Howard) Handeland of Cottage Grove, Dorothy Unger of Sauk Centre, Shirley Goering of Crookston, and Georgia (Jerry) Rooney of Belgrade.

Cyril was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Felling on October 24, 1993; infant great-granddaughter, Elsie Radjenovich; parents, Joseph and Veronica Felling; sisters, Madeline Roe, Bertha Felling, and Loverna Henning; and brothers, Wilfred, Bernard, Ernest, Joseph "Buddy", and Gary Felling.

Serving as casket bearers will be Merle C. Felling, Michael Felling, Samuel Ripka, Greg Felling, Ben Felling, Jason Felling, Shane Halverson, and Ryan Halverson. Cross bearer will be Jeanna Borgmann and scripture bearer will be Mark Felling. Serving as lectors will be Jessica Thompson, Brenda Jennissen, and Jennifer Nelson and gift bearers will Priya Felling, Bonnie Radjenovich, Dayna Halverson, and Jill Felling.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Michael's Hospice or Holy Family School.
