Conrad J. Zehrer, age 82, of Sauk Centre died Monday, May 17, 2004 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2004 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Sylvester Kleinschmidt and Rev. James Statz concelebrating. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday, May 20, 2004 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. St. Paul's Catholic Aid Society will pray at 6:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Conrad Zehrer was born on June 28, 1921 in Sauk Centre Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Leo and Johanna (Jennissen) Zehrer. He married Cecile A. Kleinschmidt on October 16, 1944 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Sauk Centre. They lived in Sauk Centre where they farmed south of town. Conrad retired in 1984 and they moved north of Sauk Centre. His greatest passion was his herd of pedigree Holstein cattle and his 8 grandchildren. Conrad was a member of Our Lady of the Angles Catholic Church, St. Paul's Catholic Aid Society.
Survivors include his wife, Cecile Zehrer of Sauk Centre; children, Lee Zehrer (Jeanne) of Los Angeles, CA, Jeanne Bliss of Faribault, Wendy Smith (David) of Lake Crystal, Diane Peterson (Todd) of St. Paul, Bob Zehrer of Minneapolis, John Zehrer of Soldiers Grove, WI, Mary Zehrer of St. Paul, and Paul Zehrer (Gillian) of San Francisco, CA; brothers and sisters, Tony Zehrer (Violet) of Brooten, Kenneth Zehrer (Carolyn) of Sauk Centre, Joe Zehrer (Bea) of Sauk Centre, Josephine Heinzel of Sauk Centre, and Madeline Hoavanec (John) of Grand Rapids; 8 grandchildren, Ellison, Emily, and Margaret Smith, Nicholas and Zachary Peterson, Brandon Zehrer, Amanda Rubasch, and Katie Bliss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Johanna Zehrer; and brothers, Alphonse and Wilfred Zehrer.
Casket bearers will be Nicholas and Zachary Peterson, Ellison, Emily, and Margaret Smith, and Amanda Rubasch. Cross bearer will be Katie Bliss and scripture bearer will be Brandon Zehrer.
Memorials are preferred to St. Michael's Hospice.
