Colette Von Wahlde

Colette E. Von Wahlde, age 101 of Melrose, died peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Melrose, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 24 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating and Rev. Ken Thielman and Rev. Vincent Lieser concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Christian Mothers will pray at 6 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Colette Elizabeth Hinnenkamp was born January 25, 1914 in Melrose Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Bernard and Mary (Angelbeck) Hinnenkamp. On June 1, 1932 she married Henry Von Wahlde at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. The couple farmed in Melrose Township until retiring in 1979. Since October of 2006 she had resided at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.

She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, Christian Mothers, and the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters. Colette enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking, canning food, playing cards, hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling.

Survivors include her children, Jerome (Elvera) Von Wahlde of Melrose, Bob (Pat) Von Wahlde of Melrose, and Delores (Melvin) Gerads of Upsala; 16 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 26 great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Irma Otte of Sauk Centre and Bernadine Winter of Greenwald.

Colette was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Von Wahlde on December 21, 2006; great-great-granddaughter, Addison Wensman; brothers and sisters, Letvina Brake, Robert Hinnenkamp, Clarence Hinnenkamp, Isidor Hinnenkamp, Herbert Hinnenkamp, Theckla Blenker, and Bernard Hinnenkamp.

Serving as casket bearers will be Judy Pundsack, Gail Hommerding, Mary Scherping, Debbie Engelmeyer, Sharon Roering, and Linda Cichon. Cross bearer will be Kristi Curtis and scripture bearer will be Kristin Pflipsen. Gift bearers will be Melinda Wensman and Wendy Tschida.
