Clyde J. Uphus, age 80 of Woodbury, formerly of Sauk Centre, died peacefully Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at New Perspective Senior Living in Woodbury, Minnesota.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 9 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Jim Maderak officiating. Family inurnment will be in St. John's Cemetery in Meire Grove.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
Clyde John Uphus was born August 27, 1937 in Freeport, Minnesota to Henry and Loretta (Heidgerken) Uphus. Clyde graduated from Melrose High School in 1955. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force and worked as an airplane mechanic. Clyde married to Susann "Susie" Worms on August 9, 1969 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Clyde and Susie moved to St. Paul where he worked for 3M for 35 years. He was a member of St. Pascal Baylon Catholic Church in St. Paul for over 20 years. After his retirement in 1992, Clyde and Susie moved back to Sauk Centre, where he worked part time cutting lawn for the Lynx golf course. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Clyde enjoyed gardening, caring for his lawn, and golfing but his love and passion was cheering on the Minnesota Vikings. In honor of Clyde's love for the Vikings, please wear your Viking apparel to his funeral services.
Survivors include his children, Diane (Mike) Gustafson of Woodbury and Kevin (Robin) Ertl of Helmville, Montana; granddaughter, Sydney Gustafson; and brothers and sisters, Joe (Rosanne) Uphus, Steve Uphus, Mary (Gerry) Thuringer, and Barb (Kurt) Willett.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Agnes Anne; and wife, Susann "Susie" Uphus.
