Clifford L. "Cliff" Brewer, age 87 of Sauk Centre, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota after a lingering illness with Parkinson's disease.

A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 7 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre with Rev. Paul Twist and Rev. Kyle Peterson officiating. Interment will follow in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls.

Visitation will be from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home in Sauk Centre.

Clifford Leslie Brewer was born December 6, 1925 in Washburn, North Dakota to Arthur and Cora (Smith) Brewer. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific theatre. He attended Dunwoody Institute and then worked as an electrician in Long Prairie. He married Gayle Wildman on October 22, 1953 at First Baptist Church in Long Prairie, Minnesota. His electrical work was in several areas and the couple resided in Little Falls, Brainerd, Long Prairie, Rice and then for 21 years in Sauk Rapids. He retired in 1991 and since 2002 they had resided in Sauk Centre. Since March 17, 2006 he had been a resident of St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.

Cliff enjoyed woodworking in his free time. He had been a member of the Baptist congregation in each community they had resided in and served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon and trustee. He was a member of the Electrical Union Local 343.

Survivors include his wife, Gayle Brewer of Sauk Centre; three children, Rebecca Brewer of Brainerd, Beth (Mike) Bruemmer of Nelson and Brenda (Tim) Spicer of Blaine; seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Sarah and Leah Bruemmer, Jennifer and Nichole Spicer, Amber Gargus and Amy Foss; four great-grandchildren, Drew and Tyson Gargus, Mason and Hudson Foss; and special family friend, Debra (Roger) Doeden of Sauk Centre.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mae Brewer; step-brother, Harold Brewer; and step-sister, Mary Brewer.

Serving as casket bearers will be his grandchildren, Benjamin, Sarah and Leah Bruemmer, Jennifer and Nichole Spicer, Amber Gargus and Amy Foss.
