Clarence C. Thelen age 87, of Melrose, died Sunday, March 4, 2007 at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Clarence Thelen was born January 9, 1920 in Melrose, Minnesota to John and Mary (Goihl) Thelen. He was a lifetime resident of Melrose and the last four years; he resided at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose. Clarence enjoyed watching old movies, sports, and playing cards. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose.
Survivors include his brother, Herb Thelen and his wife, Della of Melrose; sister-in-law, Jeanette Thelen of Albert Lea; and 16 nieces and nephews.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edmund, Alphonse, Melvin, and Sylvester; and sister, Tillie Poepping.
Serving as casket bearers will be John Thelen, Tom Thelen, Jim Thelen, Neil Thelen, Ron Haskamp, and Dan Weisser. Serving as cross bearer will be Barbara Hensch and scripture bearer will be Shirley Knisley.
