Clarence A. "Tony" Botz, age 89 of Sauk Centre, died Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the Dept. of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 27 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home in Sauk Centre.

Tony was born June 9, 1919 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Frederick and Rose (Bromenshenkel) Botz. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On July 2, 1946 he married Deloris McGee. Deloris preceded him in death on December 31, 1971. He married Leona (Kuefler) Carpenter on October 12, 1973 in St. Louis Park and the couple resided in Hopkins. He had been employed by Barten Construction in Osseo for 15 years and then by Harddrives until 1980. Upon retirement, they moved to Spirit Lake, near Aitkin. They returned to Sauk Centre in 2001. Leona preceded him in death on February 16, 2008.He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853, American Legion Post 67, Disabled American Veterans, and the Moose Lodge in Aitkin.

Survivors include three step-children, Karen (George) Hnasko of Brown Deer, Wisconsin, Dave (Joyce) Carpenter of Golden Valley, and Gary (Nancy) Carpenter of East Bethel; nine step-grandchildren; eleven step-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, David (Louise) Botz of West Palm Beach, Florida, Alma Sanders and Sr. Lucille Botz, both of St. Paul, Dorothy Ahrens of Sauk Centre, Evelyn Hitt of Fridley, Muriel Vonada of Menahga, and Robert (Elaine) Botz of Sauk Centre; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Deloris and Leona; brothers, Paul, Pete, Art and Edwin Botz.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Tree of Life at St. Michael's Nursing Home and the Alzheimer's Association.
