Clara S. Proell, age 79 of Sauk Centre, died on Thursday, December 11, 2003 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 13 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5:15 p.m. followed by Christian Mothers at 7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home in Sauk Centre.
Clara Proell was born on March 24, 1924 in Ward Springs, Minnesota to Alowis and Anna (Ritter) Harmeling. On September 17, 1946 she married Edwin Proell, Sr. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Ward Springs. The couple made their home in Sauk Centre, where Clara enjoyed gardening and canning. Since 1992 she had resided at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.
Survivors include five children, Barb (Jerry) Moffitt of Sauk Centre, Carolyn (Larry) Steffen of Long Prairie, Michael A. (Long) Proell of Lacey, Washington, Jim (Shelly) Proell and Edwin (Vicki) Proell, both of Sauk Centre; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Marie Schloegl of St. Paul; brother, Gene (Harriet) Harmeling of Sun City, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin Proell on November 19, 1986; infant sons, Robert, John and Eugene; two grandchildren; sister, Ida Wright; brothers, Richard, Harold, Alowis, Jr. and John Harmeling.
Serving as casket bearers will be Dale and Daryl Schmeisser, Dave Schloegl, Keith and Tom Harmeling and Alan Nathe. Cross bearer will be Peggy Ruegemer.
