Clara J. Kulzer, age 93, of Greenwald, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, April 2, 2007 at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Greenwald with Rev. Pascal Ontieno Ounga, Rev. Ken Thielman, and Rev. Ken Popp concelebrating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Christian Women and Daughters of Isabella will pray at 4:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Melrose.
Clara Kulzer was born March 5, 1914 St. Rosa, Minn. to Stephen and Mary (Vornbrock) Engelmeyer. She was united in marriage to Jacob A. Kulzer on May 10, 1938 at St. Mary's Cathedral in St. Cloud, Minnesota. They farmed south of Greenwald until they semi-retired and moved to the town of Greenwald in 1963. They were blessed with 53 years of marriage. Clara loved playing cards, quilting, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Greenwald, Christian Mothers and Daughters of Isabella.
Survivors include her children, Ken Kulzer (Dorine) of Greenwald, Doris Schwegman (Dale Young) of Sauk Rapids, Betty Thornell (John) of Austin, Texas, Karen Gruber (Jim) of Elrosa; sisters and brothers, Josephine Rehkamp of Sauk Centre, Mary Shepherd of Minneapolis, Peter Engelmeyer (Alice) of Foley, Alphonse Engelmeyer (Bette) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, John Engelmeyer (Beverly) of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and Joe Engelmeyer of Warsaw; 16 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Mary Engelmeyer; husband, Jacob A. Kulzer on December 23, 1991; brother and sisters, Katherine Engelmeyer, Christ Engelmeyer, Theresa Klasen, Anna Lehner, and Eleanor Roering; and son-in-law, Don Schwegman.
Casketbearers will be Paul Gruber, Jennifer Kiffmeyer, Julie Wieber, Kevin, Michael, Steven, Brian and Marvin Kulzer. Cross bearer will be Jody Albers. Scripture bearer will be Sharon Wilson. Lectors will be Lynn Jenc and Sharon Wilson. Gift bearers will be Kristin Jenc, Brenda Flaten, Sheila Fischer, Lisa Leabo, and Jamie Schwegman. Honorary bearers will be Christian Women and Daughters of Isabella.
