Clara M. Bohlig, 86, of Melrose died peacefully surrounded by her daughters, Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Melrose.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Clara Bohlig was born Jan. 17, 1918 in St. Anthony, Minnesota to John and Anna (Jacobs) Schriver. She married Ervin M. Bohlig on Dec. 29, 1936 at Avon, Minnesota. In her early years she loved to travel. They later lived on Big Birch Lake where she loved to go for boat rides. Clara was an entertainer and enjoyed playing piano and singing. She was a fantastic cook, seamstress and liked gardening. She was a friend to her daughters and sons-in-law and loved her grandchildren. Clara was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Melrose and a former member of Grey Eagle Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her children, Roselyn Borgerson (Roger) of Concord, CA, Sharon Kotsmith (Terry) of Foley, Diane Schlicht of Plymouth, Doreen Lassila of Superior, WI, Linda Lamberger of Eden Prairie; 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ervin M. Bohlig on June 28, 1992; brothers and sisters, Al, Walter, Louie, Nick and Larry Schriver, Alvina Borgmann and Alma Pierson.
Casket bearers will be grandchildren, Randy Kotsmith, Lisa Sellman, Nicole Mumm, Michael Lassila, Andrea Scott, Greg Borgerson, Annemarie McCarthy, and Danny Lassila. Cross bearer will be Nicholas Kotsmith and scripture bearer will be Cassandra McCarthy.
