Charles Marty

Charles E. Marty, age 81, of Burtrum died on Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 1 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Arlie Sowada officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call on Sunday, Feb. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Chapel in Grey Eagle. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Sunday in the chapel.

Charles E. Marty was born on June 18, 1922 in Grey Eagle Township, Todd County, Minnesota, to George and Mary (Meagher) Marty. He married Alma M. Bruggenthies on January 19, 1942 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa, Minnesota. They farmed in Grey Eagle Township and he was employed by Jennie-O-Foods in Melrose and Larson Boat Works in Little Falls. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Charles was a carpenter and loved to trap, fish and hunt.

Survivors include his children, Francis Marty (Nancy) of Burtrum and Steven A. Marty (Kathy) of Burtrum; grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Marty; sisters and brothers, Margaret Prozinski of Melrose, Rose McDermond of Grey Eagle; Hubert Marty (Mary) of Elk River, Eugene Marty (Shirley) of Bemidji.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alma M. Marty on Feb. 24, 1995; and brothers and sisters, Louie and Mike; Mary, Nora and Nita.

Casket bearers will be Harold Loomis, Roger Wieling, Jerry Rahn, Walter Hoppe, Eugene Marty and Todd Prout.
