Cecilia Hansen

Cecilia "Cele" Hansen, age 91 of Sauk Centre, died unexpectedly Thursday, August 24, 2017 at CentraCare Health Hospital, Sauk Centre, surrounded by her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 28 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Sudhansu Kumar officiating and Rev. David Grundman and Rev. Andrew Marthaler concelebrating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Sauk Centre.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish Prayers will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Cecilia Katherine Bussmann, daughter of Bernard and Elizabeth (Wenker) Bussmann was born June 5, 1926 in Melrose, Minnesota. Cecilia attended school in the one room country school through eighth grade and graduated from Melrose High School in 1944. On August 31, 1948, Cele was united in marriage to Donovan Adam Hansen at Saint Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose, Minnesota. To this union, five children were born. Together, Cele and Don farmed five miles east of Sauk Centre until their retirement. For approximately 10 years, Cecilia enjoyed working at the Melrose Beacon one or two days each week. She enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, dancing, putting jigsaw puzzles together, and quilting with her mother and sisters.

Cecilia was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and Catholic United Financial.

Survivors include her beloved husband of nearly 69 years, Donovan; children, Darlene (Gary) Fix of Braham, MN, Cheryl (Jim) Coderre of Lake Elmo, MN, Daniel (Jess) Hansen of Sauk Centre, and Carla (Scott) Bauer of Freeport; grandchildren, Douglas Fix, Ginger (Corey) Owens, Gayle (Rob) Linkert, Christine (Mark Haggman) Coderre, Deb (Ron) Ethier, Shane Hansen (Kelly Schultz), Jamie Hansen (Raechal Olmscheid), Daniel (Samantha) Hansen, Theresa Legatt (Bob Carpentier, II), Brian (Victoria) Legatt, Tiffany (Jeremiah) Mohr, Landon Bauer, Phoenix Bauer, and Trinity Bauer; 26 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; siblings, Doris Peterson, Bernard (Tillie) Bussmann, Edward (Darlene) Bussmann, and Betty Lou (Victor) Goebel; other relatives and friends.

Cele was preceded in death by daughter, Gayle Hansen in 1963; parents, Bernard and Elizabeth Bussmann; grandsons, Dallas Fix and Christopher Hansen; sisters, Anna Mae Morrison, Lorraine Kraker, Rita Poepping, and Bernice Thieler.

Casket bearers included: Shane Hansen, Jamie Hansen, Daniel Hansen, Douglas Fix, Landon Bauer, and Phoenix Bauer. Cecilia's Godchildren, Ron Bussmann and Pam Kelley served as the Cross bearer and Scripture bearer. Doris Peterson and Betty Lou Goebel were the communion gift bearers for Cecilia's mass and John and Maggie Kraker served as Eucharistic Ministers.

In lieu of flowers Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
