Catherine Beuning

Catherine F. Beuning, age 92 of Sauk Centre, died Saturday, September 26, 2009 surrounded by her family at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 29 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be held at 5:15 p.m. followed by the Christian Mothers at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening.

Catherine Frances Klasen was born June 18, 1917 in Millwood Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to John and Anna (Bueckers) Klasen. On July 15, 1941 she was united in marriage to Ralph W. Beuning at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. She and her husband owned and managed Beuning Agricultural Services. The couple enjoyed spending time at their cottage on Birch Lake. Catherine sang in the church choir for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, traveling, keeping up with her flower garden, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Catherine was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.

Catherine is survived by her three children, Jerry (Kaye) Beuning of Sauk Centre, Roger (Susan) Beuning of Sauk Centre, and Sue (Clarence Jr.) Hornick of Sauk Centre; grandchildren, Brian (Ginger) Beuning of Luverne, Sarah (John Martin) Beuning of Springfield, Illinois, Eric Beuning of Sauk Centre, Scott (Lindsay) Beuning of Lakeville, Steven Beuning of Lakeville, Andy (Amy Sand) Hornick of Browerville, Patrick Hornick of Cottonwood, Matthew (Cary) Hornick of Timberlake, South Dakota, Mark (Missy) Hornick of Sauk Centre, and Michael (Ann) Hornick of Sauk Centre; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Amanda Klaphake of Melrose and Sophia Ebnet of Long Prairie; special nieces and nephews, Esther Beuning, Caroline Beilijeski, Rica Korte, and Julius Korte; and many nieces and nephews.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph W. Beuning on June 16, 1993; infant twin children John and Mary and an infant child; parents; sisters and brothers, Adelheid Korte, Bernard Klasen, Lawrence Klasen, Bertha Kerfeld, Ann Nardinger, Hubert Klasen, and Tony Klasen; and special niece, Alice Kerfeld.

Serving as casket bearers will be her grandsons, Brian Beuning, Eric Beuning, Scott Beuning, Steven Beuning, Andy Hornick, Patrick Hornick, Matthew Hornick, Mark Hornick, and Michael Hornick. Cross bearer will be her great-granddaughter, Brittney Hornick and scripture bearer will be her great-granddaughter, Kendra Hornick.In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
