Caroline H. "Carrie" Meyer, 98, of Meire Grove, died peacefully on Friday, surrounded by her children, at the Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove with Rev. Ron Dockendorf and Rev. Ken Thielman concelebrating.Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Monday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Christian Mothers, Holy Rosary and Poor Souls Societies will pray at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Melrose.

Caroline was born October 10, 1905 in Fitzmaurice, Saskatchewan, Canada to Frank and Mary (Blumhoefer) Anton. She was united in marriage to John B. Meyer on October 14, 1924 at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove. They farmed near Meire Grove for 40 years retiring in 1964 when they moved to town. Carrie lived there until she moved to Pine Villa Care Center in February of 2001. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Christian Mothers, Holy Rosary Society, Poor Souls Society and Catholic Aid Society. Carrie enjoyed vegetable and flower gardens, quilting, crocheting and reading.

Survivors include children, Herbert Meyer (Lucille) of New Munich, Ralph Meyer (Mary Ann) of Paynesville, Philip Meyer (Rosie) of Greenwald, Cyril Meyer (Darlene) of Meire Grove, Mary Ann Wenker (Clarence) of Melrose, Joanne Fischer (Gene) of St. Cloud, Bernice Farmer (Bill) of St. Cloud, Edward Meyer (Ann) of Cold Spring; daughter-in-law, Marcella Meyer of Melrose; and half-brothers and sisters, Leander Anton (Lorraine) of Cooperstown, ND, Herbert Anton (Lillian) of Yakima, WA, Lorenz Anton of New Town, ND, Magdaline Giesen of Makoti, ND, Wilfred Anton of West Fargo, ND, Lucille Speldrich of Sykeston, ND; 52 grandchildren, 97 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John B. Meyer on Jan. 22, 1985; son, Jerome Meyer on Sept. 12, 1999; daughter, Lorraine Ludwig on Mar. 1, 2002; brothers, John and Philip Anton; sister, Mary Heinze; step-sister, Katherine Morton; half-brothers Joe, Raymond, Bernard, Eugene and Edmund Anton; half-sisters Florence Anton and Gertrude Oberst; and 1 grandson, Perry Meyer on Dec. 20, 1986.

Casket bearers will be Robert, Roger, Dean, and Brian Meyer, Grey Wenker and Eric Fischer. Cross bearer will be Laura Farmer and scripture bearer will be Janice Jones. Honorary bearers will be Christian Mothers, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
