Caroline A. "Carrie" Ahrens, age 90 of Grey Eagle, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2018 at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Long Prairie, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 27 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ron Dockendorf officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church in Grey Eagle. The Christian Mothers will pray a rosary at 5:30 p.m. Friday evening at the church.
Caroline Ann Boeckermann was born November 5, 1927 in Millwood Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Bernard and Amanda (Toenyan) Boeckermann. She was united in marriage to Norbert Ahrens on May 18, 1948 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. Carrie helped Norbert on the farm near Grey Eagle for nearly 50 years before moving into town. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle and the Christian Mothers. Carrie enjoyed working with Norbert on the farm, playing cards, going to the casino, house parties, gardening, cooking, and baking.
Survivors include her children, LeRoy (Marque) Ahrens of Grey Eagle, Anna Mae (Paul) Graves of Long Prairie, Jane (LeRoy) Schultz of Eagle Bend, John (Sandi) Ahrens of Grey Eagle, and Joe (Denise) Ahrens of Carlos; daughter-in-law, Jeri Ahrens of Grey Eagle; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Roger (Irene) Boeckermann of Melrose; and sisters, Marie Kampsen of Melrose, Monica Rieland of New Munich, and Helen Hallermann of Sartell.
Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert Ahrens; parents; son, Robert "Bob" Ahrens; daughter, Joyce Revering; son-in-law, Gary Revering; sisters, Stella Ostendorf, Eleanore Wiechmann, and Bernadette Hallermann; and brothers, Lawrence, Edmund, Wilfred, Anthony, and Francis Boeckermann.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jesse Graves, Stuart Ahrens, Mike Revering, Ryan Ahrens, Jamie Ahrens, and Jill Schultz. Cross bearer will be Tim Ahrens and scripture bearer will be Missy Terres.
