Brian Snyder, age 65 of Sauk Centre died peacefully after a battle with cancer surrounded by his family Saturday, March 22, 2014 at CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 28 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard. Private inurnment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, Minnesota.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m. Thursday followed by the United Veterans prayer service at 7 p.m.
Brian Daniel Snyder was born October 13, 1948 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Daniel and Jeannette (Mitchell) Snyder. He was a 1966 graduate of North High School in Minneapolis. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Vietnam Conflict as a helicopter door gunner. In 1981 he married Dawn Zimmer in Anoka, Minnesota. The couple resided in Florida and later divorced. Brian returned to Minnesota and was employed by Worms Lumber and Ready Mix in Sauk Centre. He married Joyce (Schmiesing) Roering on June 14, 2008 in Windom, Minnesota. He retired in 2010.
Brian enjoyed fishing and participated in many bass fishing tournaments. He also enjoyed camping and building and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was a member of American Legion Post 67 and Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Snyder of Sauk Centre; daughter, Angel Snyder of Orlando, Florida; step-children, Jason Roering of St. Cloud, James Roering (fiancé, Sara) of Foley and Renee Roering of Sauk Centre; two grandchildren, Dominic Roering and Makayla Oliveri; brothers and sisters, Diane (Tom) Charboneau of Sauk Centre, Jeff Snyder (Tami Gustafson) of Mesa, Arizona, Steve Snyder (Anita Vernier) of Brooklyn Center and Susan (David) Pettit of Sauk Centre; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Serving as urn bearer will be Steve Snyder and honorary bearers will be Dan Wark, Arlyn Stewart, Kevin Rachey, Myron Hendershot, Berni Hirbarne, Dave Pettit and Dan Loxtercamp.
