Beverly A. (Winters) Friedrichs, age 62 of Mounds View, formerly of West Union, died Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 10 at St. Alexius Catholic Church in West Union. Rev. Andrew Marthaler will officiate with Rev. James Statz and Rev. Sylvester Kleinschmidt concelebrating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (TODAY) at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at church. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Sauk Centre.
Beverly A. Winters was born April 1, 1947 in Melrose, Minnesota to Verne and Esther (Bromenshenkel) Winters. Beverly was baptized at St. Alexius Catholic Church in West Union, Minnesota. She attended grade school in West Union and then went on and graduated from the Sauk Centre Public Schools in 1965. After graduation, she attended St. Cloud State University. Upon completing her schooling, Beverly moved to the Twin Cities where she worked as a secretary for many years at IDS and Health Partners until her retirement in 2001. She was united in marriage to Richard "Pee Wee" Friedrichs on October 26, 1991 at St. Alexius Catholic Church in West Union. Bev was a compassionate, humble, loving, and caring person. She was absolutely adored and loved by her family and she had an overwhelming number of friends. If you were a friend of Bev's brothers or sisters, you were a friend of Bev's.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Little Canada. Bev enjoyed quilting and sewing. She loved to crochet and made afghans for her whole family. Bev was known to many as the "Coupon Queen." As the best shopper in the world, she taught many the art of shopping.
Survivors include her mother, Esther Winters of West Union; brothers and sisters, James (Mary) Winters of Sauk Centre, John (Cathy) Winters of West Union, Ron (Nancy) Winters of Osakis, Rita Winters of Alexandria, Gary (Susan) Winters of West Union, and Elizabeth (Mike) Melby of Brooklyn Center; 19 nieces and nephews; two great-nephews; and one great-niece.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband Richard "Pee Wee" Friedrichs on August 21, 2000; father, Verne Winters on June 27, 1995; brothers-in-law, Elmer Schmidt and Laverne Friedrichs; sister-in-law, Arlene Schmidt.
Serving as casket bearers will be Tom Winters, Mark Winters, Pat Winters, Kevin Winters, Joe Melby and Sam Melby. Serving as cross bearers will be Amanda Melby, Abby Winters, and Emily Winters and scripture bearer will be Ashley Winters. Honorary bearers will be Beverly's nieces and nephews. Mass servers will be Isaac and Paul Winters. Gift bearers will be Katie, Steven, and Emily Winters. Petitions will be read by Michelle Winters and Sr. Marian Kemper will act as Reader and Eucharistic Minister.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
