Betty Roberts

Betty J. Roberts, age 81 of Sauk Centre, died Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre.

Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, September 24 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Rev. Kathy Schuler will officiate with inurnment following in Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Sauk Centre.

Betty Roberts was born February 26, 1923 in Paige, North Dakota to Dr. Harold and Blanche (Carlin) Vestal. She received her bachelor of arts degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota and was employed by the Faribault News as a special article editor. On August 26, 1950 she married William H. Roberts, Jr. in Grey Eagle. The couple resided in Indianapolis, Indiana where she was a homemaker. They retired to Little Birch Lake near Ward Springs in 1978. For the past 20 years she had resided in Sauk Centre. Betty enjoyed reading and critiquing novels, collecting dolls and antiques and especially loved her dogs.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Roberts and her husband, Roger Istvanovich of Shafer; and grandson, Mark Kociemba of St. Joseph.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill on February 24, 1979; and brother, Don Vestal.
