Betty M. Cheadle, age 77 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully Monday, May 11, 2009 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Marty Porter will officiate with interment following at Unity Cemetery in rural Sauk Centre.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Sauk Centre United Auxiliaries will pray at 7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Betty Pagel was born January 25, 1932 in Cannon Falls, Minnesota to Henry and Agnes (Iverson) Pagel. On October 5, 1956 she married Myles "Mike" Cheadle at St. Paul's Unity Lutheran Church in Getty Township, Stearns County, Minnesota. The couple farmed in Getty Township and she moved to Sauk Centre in 1986. She had been employed as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) at St. Michael's Hospital and later at Koelln Homes and REM Homes in Sauk Centre.Betty volunteered at dances at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center and enjoyed bowling, reading, watching old movies, and attending plays. She was an avid crossword puzzler and Scrabble player.Betty was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and had taught Sunday school at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove Lake. She was also a member of Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853 Auxiliary.
Survivors include four children, Terri Gregersen of Gilman, Illinois, Mary (Doug) Yager of Sauk Rapids, Jo (Greg) Sorell and Scott (Brenda) Cheadle, all of Sauk Centre; daughter-in-law, Janet (Mike) Koubsky of Long Prairie; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Seykora of Faribault.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Myles "Mike" Cheadle on May 28, 1978; son, Michael Cheadle on March 28, 1992; sister, Barbara Ann Hancock; and brother-in-law, Donald "Spud" Cheadle.
Serving as casket bearers will be Tim Quade, Bernard Adams, Rodney Meier, Jeff Betow, John Iverson, and Tom Seykora. Honorary bearers will be Jerry Seykora, Rodney Cheadle, Steve Prink, and Dan Hancock.
