Bertha B. Schoenberg, age 83 of Melrose, died Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 3 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Greenwald with Rev. Bob Rolfes and Rev. Oscar Schoenberg concelebrating. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery in Spring Hill.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Christian Mothers, St. Andrew's Catholic Aid and Daughters of Isabella Joan of Arc Circle will pray at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Friday evening.

Bertha Schoenberg was born July 13, 1922 in St. Martin, Minnesota to John and Elizabeth (Hoppe) Hagemann. She was a homemaker all her life. Bertha was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Greenwald, Christian Mothers, St. Andrew's Catholic Aid, Daughters of Isabella Joan of Arc Circle of Melrose and Crosier Apostolate.

Survivors include her children, Pat Spanier and her husband, Roger of Avon, John Schoenberg and his wife, Marilyn of Spring Hill, Joni Van Beck and her husband, Peter of Greenwald, Betty Meyer and her husband, Neil of Sauk Rapids, Barb Schwieters and her husband, Tom of Melrose, Linda Van Beck and her husband, Ralph of Greenwald, Peg Winkelman and her husband, Jeff of Freeport and Steve Schoenberg and his wife, Mona of Melrose; 30 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren; sisters, Josephine Herges and her husband, Ed of Cold Spring and Marie Rothstein of Waite Park.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor Schoenberg on February 26, 1967; and brother, Henry Hagemann.

Serving as casket bearers will be Keith Spanier, Noah Van Beck, Marti Van Beck, Dale Schoenberg, Matt Meyer, Pete Schwieters, Joe Winkelman, and Brianna Schoenberg. Serving as cross bearer will be Lynn Thelen and scripture bearer will be Doug Schoenberg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
