Bernice Schmidt

Bernice B. Schmidt, age 74 of Elrosa, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at her home embraced by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 23 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. Rev. Jeff Ethen will officiate with private inurnment in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. The Daughters of Isabella Joan of Arc Circle of Melrose will pray at 4:30 p.m. and parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home in Melrose.

Bernice Schmidt was born to Joseph and Cecelia (Trisko) Lindner on August 26, 1931 in Meire Grove, Minnesota. On September 7, 1953 she married Stanley \Dan\" Schmidt also in Meire Grove. She worked with her husband at the Elrosa Elevator as a bookkeeper. She was also employed for over 30 years by the United States Postal Service and retired as the postmaster in 2004. She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church and was an active member of the Elrosa Senior Citizens.Bernice enjoyed crocheting
