Bernice C. Johnson, age 93 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 11 at Saint Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m. and a rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. by the Christian Mothers and St. Theresa's Mission Group Monday evening at the funeral home.
Bernice Catherine Wiener was born on October 7, 1925 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Bernard and Mary (Reissner) Wiener. Bernice married LeRoy Johnson on January 22, 1946 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Together the couple farmed and raised their eight children. Bernice lived on the farm for over 72 years, only moving off the farm three months ago. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and cooking. She loved spending time with her daughters and grandkids.
Bernice was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre, Christian Mothers, St. Theresa's Mission Group, and Mater Dolorosa Society.
Bernice is survived by her daughters, Margaret Johnson of St. Paul, Lois (Timothy) Preusser of Sauk Rapids, Karen (John) Neenan of Hastings, Marilyn (John O'Keefe) Karlsson of St. Cloud, Linda (Dale) Gormanson of Sauk Centre, Eileen (John Bennett) Johnson of Pepin, WI, and Sandra (Erika Bjornson) Johnson of Chicago, IL; four granddaughters, Sarah Neenan, Clare Neenan, Madeline Neenan, and Svea Karlsson; one great-grandson, Francis Mehrkens; and siblings, Joan Kortan, Leo Wiener, and Ron Wiener.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Johnson on December 9, 2008; infant daughter, Alice Johnson; son, Ralph Johnson on May 17, 2004; and siblings, Rita Wiener, Donna Mae Tschida, Robert "Buddy" Wiener, and Alice Broermann.
Donations can be made in Bernice's honor to Anna Marie's House in St. Cloud.
