Bernard L. "Ben" Zitur, age 98 of Sauk Centre, died on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the St. Benedict's Senior Community in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 11 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Ken Riedemann officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Melrose, Minnesota.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church in Sauk Centre.
Bernard Leo Zitur was born April 29, 1914 in Melrose to Michael and Mary (Scharimski) Zitur. In his younger days, Ben worked for farmers in the Freeport and Melrose area. Later he was employed at several poultry operations, including St. Cloud Poultry and Egg and Gold'n Plump in Cold Spring. He retired to Sauk Centre and resided there until March of 2013. Ben was the youngest of nine children. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.
Ben is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers and sisters, John (Mary) Zitur, Michael (Miriam) Zitur, Mary (Albert) Hein, Catherine Zitur, Magdalen "Lena" (Stephen) Kortan, Frank (Nellie) Zitur, Augusta Zitur and Joseph (Alice) Zitur.
