Barbara "Barb" Grove

Barbara L. “Barb” Grove, age 77 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2025 at the Galeon Community Memorial Home in Osakis, Minnesota.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 7 at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Michael Carlson officiating. A private inurnment will be at Minnesota State Veteran Cemetery in Little Falls, Minnesota. 

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Barbara Lee Hay was born October 20, 1947 in Emporia, Kansas to LeRoy and Barbara (Berger) Hay. She graduated from high school and furthered her education by earning a Bachelors of Arts degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Phillps University, graduating in 1969. During the summers while in college, Barb worked at Estes Park Colorado and after graduation, she worked at Phillips University from 1969 through 1971. She was united in marriage to Rodney Grove on June 28, 1969 at Christian Church in Enid, Oklahoma officiated by her father, Dr. LeRoy Hay. Barb stayed at home and raised her family and also helped Rodney with bookkeeping with his business.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. Barb enjoyed painting, knitting and sewing, reading, and traveling, especially when it came to camping. Her favorite times were making memories with her family. 

Survivors include her husband, Rodney Grove of Sauk Centre; children, Kristin (Chris) Bartosiewski of Alexandria, Tara (Scott) Marotz of Big Lake, and Erik (Nicole) Grove of Champlin; seven grandchildren; and sister, Clea Calloway of Royal, Arkansas.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Melissa Ann Grove in 1979 and Angela Kay Grove in 1982; brother, David Hay; and sister, Margaret Percey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
