Arthur L. "Jackson" Rolfzen, age 86 of New Munich, died Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 2 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich with Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Military honors were provided by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church in New Munich.

Arthur Leonard Rolfzen was born May 25, 1924 in Melrose, Minnesota to Henry and Bernadine (Gramke) Rolfzen. Jackson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On April 9, 1951, he was united in marriage to Charlene A. Stangler at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Jackson worked as a design engineer for DeZurik and for Polar Manufacturing. He was a sports fanatic and enjoyed playing baseball and football. Jackson was proud to be named in the Minnesota Baseball Hall of Fame. He loved to take long drives for relaxation and enjoyment of the scenery. Jackson was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jackson was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich, St. Joseph's Men's Society, and a former Commander of the Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene Rolfzen of New Munich; children, Jennifer (Michael) Cerkoney of Burnsville, Michael (Judy) Rolfzen of Albany, David Rolfzen of New Munich, Joel (Rose) Rolfzen of Harlingen, Texas, Michelle Achman (Steve Seifermann) of Albany, Richard Rolfzen of New Munich, and Russell (Elizabeth) Rolfzen of Brooklyn Park; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Hildegard "Hilts" (Raymond) Ramacher and Lorraine (Melvin) Humbert.

Jackson was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bernadine Rolfzen; brothers and sisters, Edward Rolfzen, Lambert "Fatz" Rolfzen, Clemens "Whitey" Rolfzen, Hubert Rolfzen, Cecilia "Cece" McHugh, Harold Rolfzen, Viola "Pi" Braun, and Boniface "B.J." Rolfzen.

Serving as casket bearers will be Michael Rolfzen, David Rolfzen, Joel Rolfzen, Richard Rolfzen, Russell Rolfzen, and Michael Cerkoney. Cross bearer will be Erin Achman and scripture bearer will be Christine Rolfzen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mary Knoll Missions and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
