Arnold F. "Arnie" Reimers, age 81, of Grey Eagle, died Monday, January 26, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota with his family at his bedside.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 29 at Grey Eagle United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Grey Eagle and from 12 to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Arnold Reimers was born on February 15, 1927 in Swift County, Minnesota to Fred and Lydia (Arnold) Reimers. On May 10, 1964 he was united in marriage to Ardenne Johnson at the Grey Eagle United Methodist Church. Arnie farmed all of his life. In addition to farming he worked at Humbert Implement in Freeport until 1968. In his free time, Arnie enjoyed working on old tractors, playing solitaire, and spending time with his granddaughters. He was a member of the Grey Eagle United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Ardenne Reimers of Grey Eagle; children, Patty (Ben) Ramirez of Winthrop, Minnesota, Pam (Paul) Engel of Burtrum, and Peter Reimers of Grey Eagle; three granddaughters, Missy Reimers, April and Shelby Ramirez; sisters, Lois Raatz of St. Paul and Joyce Reimers of St. Paul; sister-in-law, Evie Reimers of Cottage Grove; many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Arnie was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lydia Reimers; step-mother, Laura Reimers; and brother, William Reimers.
Serving as casket bearers will be Tom Nelson, Arthur Johnson, Rodney Atkinson, Eric Johnson, Brent Johnson, Kevin Meier, Brian Johnson, and Tom Reimers.
