Arnie Kortenbusch was born on April 27, 1922 in Melrose, Minnesota to Anton and Angeline (Spaeth) Kortenbusch. He assisted his father with farming chores, and his mother with household duties. In April of 1971, after both of his parents passed away, he became a resident of the Belgrade Nursing Home. He was an avid gardener; his green thumb was evident by the large garden the Belgrade Nursing Home had each year. One of his greatest joys and accomplishments was to plant and tend to the nursing home's garden. In addition, Arnie won purple ribbons for his plants in the Belgrade Rosebud Garden Club. He also enjoyed setting large puzzles, latch hooking, making rugs, going to the State Fair, touring cattle barns in Belgrade, and assisting in the nursing home's dining room, chapel, and laundry. Last but not least, he was very fond of children. He had a special place in his heart for his nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. While visiting with family members, he could be found happily holding, carrying, and playing with great nieces and nephews. This put a big smile on Arnie's face.He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose and the Belgrade Rosebud Garden Club.

Survivors include his sisters, Martha Ruehle of St. Cloud, Irene (Andrew) Blenker of Albany, Erma Bautch of St. Cloud, and Marcella "Sally" Hinnenkamp of Melrose; sister-in-law, Beatrice Kortenbusch of Melrose; brother-in-law, Art Doll of New Munich; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
