Anthony "Junior" G. Welle, age 58 of Spring Hill died peacefully Sunday, October 3, 2004 at his home after a long battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 6 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill with Rev. Leo Leisen and Rev. Vincent Lieser concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. St. Michael's Catholic Aid, St. Michael's Men's Society and Paynesville Knights of Columbus will pray at 7:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Anthony Welle, Jr., was born on October 29, 1945 in Melrose, Minnesota to Anthony and Mildred (Ebensteiner) Welle. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Lieser on November 5, 1966 in St. Martin. The couple farmed until 1990 when they sold the cows and remained living on the farm. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill, St. Michael's Catholic Aid, St. Michael's Men's Society and Knights of Columbus. Junior enjoyed being around friends and family and going to the casino.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Welle of Spring Hill; children, Bob Welle and his wife, Lisa of Becker, Pam Bertram and her husband, Steve of Becker and Kay Van Beck and her husband, Greg of Greenwald; 8 grandchildren; sisters and brother, Donna Nathe and her husband, Maynard of Cold Spring, Gene Welle and his wife, Jane of Cold Spring, Sandi Feldewerd and her husband, Paul of New Munich, Lou Spanier and her husband, Jerry of Spring Hill; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Serving as casket bearers will be Donna and Maynard Nathe, Gene and Jane Welle, Sandi and Paul Feldewerd, Lou and Jerry Spanier. Serving as cross bearer will be Jeremy Welle and Kaitlin Bertram will be the scripture bearer. Gift bearers will be Junior's children, Bob, Pam and Kay.
