Anthony P. "Tony" Vossen, age 47 of St. Rosa, died Saturday, November 10, 2007 at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji from injuries received in a deer hunting accident.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, November 15 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa for Rev. Roger Klassen, OSB will officiate with interment following in St. Nicholas Cemetery in St. Nicholas.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Tony Vossen was born June 20, 1960 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Philip and Avon (Asfeld) Vossen. He was a 1978 graduate of Eden Valley-Watkins High School and then attended Hutchinson Vocational Technical College. He then worked at Gail Winning's tractor repair shop in Eden Valley. On August 23, 1985 he married Rita Preston at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. The couple resided in Sauk Centre and moved to St. Rosa in 1989. For the past 24 years he had been employed as a mechanic and later as a supervisor at Heartland Equipment in Sauk Centre.Tony enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling and loved to attend rock concerts.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Vossen of St. Rosa; parents, Philip and Avon Vossen of Watkins; brothers and sisters, Ann (Don) Illies of Bemidji, Andrew (Darlene) Vossen of Litchfield, George (Teresa) Vossen of Hager City, Wisconsin, Patricia (Curt) Kaehler of Cottonwood, Arizona, Francis (Lisa) Vossen of Watkins, and Janice (Kevin) Wuebkers of Freeport; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Craig Vossen.
Serving as casket bearers will be Kevin Nohner, Gerald and Nikki Vossen, Tom Klaphake, Bob Vossen and Ken Vossen, Jr. Serving as cross bearer will be Johnathan Vossen and scripture bearer will be Crystal Vossen. Honorary bearers will be his nieces and nephews and his coworkers at Heartland Equipment.
