Anna C. Zenzen, age 93 of Elrosa, died Monday, October 24, 2011 at the Melrose Area Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 27 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa with Rev. Jeff Ethen officiating and Rev. Ken Thielman concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. The Christian Mothers will pray at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Anna Catherine Primus was born July 26, 1918 in Lastrup, Minnesota to Henry and Mary (Athmann) Primus. She was united in marriage to Sylvester Zenzen on June 23, 1941 at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove. The couple farmed in Lake George Township, Stearns County until retiring in 1982. They moved to Elrosa in 1988 and then to Melrose in 2006.
Anna was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa, Christian Mothers, and the Elrosa Senior Citizens. Anna enjoyed reading, fishing, and embroidering and painting dish towels. She loved spending time with her family and attending family gatherings.
Survivors include her children, Marcy (Sylvester) Klaphake of Meire Grove, Delores (Kenneth) Jenc of Elrosa, Janet (Willie) Boeckers of Sauk Centre, Eugene (Kathy Steffes) Zenzen of Coon Rapids, Mary Ellen (Dennis) Boeckers of Sauk Centre, and Elaine Zenzen of Sauk Centre; 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Ervin (Rose) Primus of Elk River; and sister, Alvina Dierkhissing of Melrose.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Zenzen on July 30, 2010; parents; grandson, Michael Boeckers; great-grandson, Gregory Klaphake; sisters, Sister Chrystette Primus, O.S.B. and Bertha Ruhoff; brothers, Ed Primus, Leander Primus, Wilfred Primus, Marvin Primus, and Chryst Primus; and infant sister, Marcella Primus.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jeffrey Klaphake, Dewey Klaphake, Jayme Klaphake, Steve Jenc, Josh Boeckers, and Dustin Boeckers. Cross bearer will be Janell Boeckers and scripture bearers will be Michelle Kortan and Melissa Welle. Gift bearers will be Emily Heying, Maria Wolbeck, Annette Fischer, and Angela Gregory. Lector will be Dewey Klaphake. Honorary bearers will be the Christian Mothers.
