Ann K. Olmscheid, age 85 of Melrose died Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 16 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vincent Lieser, Rev. Ken Thielman and Rev. Bob Rolfes concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Christian Mothers, VFW Post 7050 Auxiliary and Sts. Bernard & Elizabeth Council will pray at 6:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m.

Ann Olmscheid was born July 2, 1919 in Meire Grove, Minnesota to Alphonse and Louise (Deters) Walz. She was united in marriage to Eugene Olmscheid on June 10, 1946 in Melrose. Ann was a homemaker as she raised their children and later worked in housekeeping at the Melrose Hospital and Nursing Home for 15 years. She retired in 1984. Ann enjoyed traveling, playing cards and spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, Christian Mothers, Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 Auxiliary and Sts. Bernard & Elizabeth Council.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene "Gene" Olmscheid of Melrose; children, Dale Olmscheid and his wife, Yvonne of Clearwater, Duane Olmscheid and his wife, Gail of Melrose and Marlene Henry and her husband, Dick of Melrose; 8 grandchildren and one great grandson; and one sister, Alverna McLanahan and friend, Melvin Pankratz of Melrose.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse and Louise Walz; and one sister, Beatrice Sieben.

Serving as casket bearers will be Dale Olmscheid, Duane Olmscheid, Rick Olmscheid, Nathan Olmscheid, Mike Garding and Tim Gieske. Cross bearer will be Jennifer Garding and scripture bearer will be Heather Olmscheid. Gift bearers will be Katrina Olmscheid, Leah Olmscheid and Gena Henry. Honorary Bearers are Christian Mothers, Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 Auxiliary and Sts. Bernard and Elizabeth Council.
