Ann A. Gettel, age 80 of Sauk Centre, died on Friday, April 23 at her daughter's home in Coon Rapids.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 30 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5:15 p.m. followed by Christian Mothers at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Ann Gettel was born on May 4, 1923 in Freeport, Minnesota to August and Mary (Schaefer) Schmidt. In April, 1941 she was united in marriage to August "Gus" Gettel at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Padua. Since her marriage she had resided in the Sauk Centre area. She was employed by Jennie-O Foods in Melrose for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.
She is survived by nine children, Shirley (LaVerne) Terwey of Apple Valley, Phyllis Rosch of Fairmont, Alan Gettel of Sauk Centre, Sandra Scholz of Coon Rapids, Ronald Gettel of Alexandria, Katheryn (Michael) Marinac of Minneapolis, Keith Gettel of Odessa, Florida, Bonnie Romnes of Eagan and Brenda Gettel of Long Prairie; 20 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three brothers, Frank Schmidt of Belgrade, Robert (Evelyn) Schmidt of Sauk Centre and Norbert Schmidt of Rosemount; and sister, Agnes Schrafft of Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gus, on December 23, 1998; son, Daniel, on May 23, 2000; grandson, Shannon Terwey; two brothers, Clem and Steven Schmidt; and three sisters, Marian Johnson, Catherine Schmidt and Hilda Gorman.
Serving as casket bearers will be Daniel Gettel, Jaron Roering, Shawn Scholz, Donald Schiller, Jason & Jeremy Gettel, Mike, Derrick and Michael Marinac with Shanna Terwey serving as cross bearer.
