Angeline H. (Kulzer) Meyer, age 84 of Meire Grove, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 18 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at St. Andrew's Cemetery in Greenwald.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church in Meire Grove. The Christian Mothers will pray at 5 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Angeline (Angie) Helen was born to Frank Olberding and Mary Thull Olberding on October 11, 1933, in Spring Hill Township. Angie lived her entire life in the Greenwald/Meire Grove area. Angie married Alcuin John Kulzer on April 26, 1950 in Greenwald, where they lived until Alcuin's death on April 8, 1987. On June 11, 1993 Angie married Wayne H. Meyer and lived with him in Meire Grove until her death on January 13, 2018.
Angie was a hard working woman with many talents. She worked as a baking assistant in St. Cloud and a nursing assistant in Melrose, as well as in the Melrose Nursing Home. She was also a trained Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and was a first responder for the Melrose Ambulance Service. Angie also worked with her first husband Alcuin in his carpentry business as a painter and wood finisher, drove school bus for the Melrose School District, worked at Jennie-O in Melrose, as well as cooking and bar-tending in Greenwald, and immediately prior to retiring, she assisted Wayne Meyer on his farm outside of Meire Grove.
Angie was known as an avid card player and was particularly fond of playing Solo. While living in Greenwald she gardened and was known for her beautiful strawberries, and according to her children and grandchildren, she was a "world-class" baker. In her spare time she embroidered and crocheted.
Angie impacted many during her life time and will be greatly missed by her husband Wayne, friends and family.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne of Meire Grove; seven children, Arlene Kulzer and her husband, Kelly Myers of Clearwater, Florida, Daniel and his wife, Stephanie of Greenwald, Paul of Sauk Centre, Randy of Apple Valley, Thomas and his wife, Judi of Swanville, Peter and his wife, Carol of Sauk Centre, and Mary Kulzer Erickson of Apple Valley; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Fridolin (Fritz) and his wife, Lucy of Kansas and George of Tucson; sister-in-law, Bea (Arthur) Olberding of Oregon; and brother-in-law, Jim Essler (Lillian) of Winthrop.
Angie was preceded in death by her first husband, Alcuin Kulzer; parents, Frank and Mary Olberding; brothers, Leonard, Arthur and Edmund; sister, Lillian Essler; sisters-in-law, Angie, Hilda, and Ruth; and daughter-in-law, Michelle Welle Kulzer.
Serving as casket bearers will be Michael Kulzer, Tony Kulzer, Jesse Kulzer, Jennifer Redman, Nancy Fahrner, and Danielle Douvier. Cross bearer will be Angie Mehr and scripture bearer will be Quinn Erickson. Honorary bearers will be the Christian Mothers.
