Andrew Fred Hinnenkamp, age 79, of Melrose, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 31, 2006.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 4 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Father Vincent Lieser officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Sts. Bernard & Elizabeth Council will pray at 7:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Andrew Hinnenkamp was born October 11, 1927 in Melrose Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Ben G. and Elizabeth (Von Wahlde) Hinnenkamp. He was united in marriage to Elaine Eveslage on August 28, 1951 at Sacred Heart Church in Freeport, Minnesota. Andrew farmed the family homestead his entire life and retired from dairy farming in 1992. He served as treasurer of the Melrose Township Board. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a former member of the Sts. Bernard & Elizabeth Council. He enjoyed fishing, animals, driving his four-wheeler, and playing games. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was known for his infectious laugh.

Survivors include his five children, Michael Hinnenkamp and his wife, Nancy of Plymouth, Chuck Hinnenkamp of Apple Valley, Cheri Hinnenkamp and Kelly Hinnenkamp of Melrose, and Joan Hinnenkamp of Woodbury; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and brother, Alvin Hinnenkamp and his wife, Esther of Sauk Centre.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elaine Hinnenkamp on June 3, 2002; daughters, Michelle and Mary Beth Hinnenkamp; brother, Edward Hinnenkamp; and sisters, Cornelia Wielenberg and Alma Hellermann.

Serving as casket bearers will be Michael, Chuck, Cheri, Joan, Kelly, Michelle, Christopher Hinnenkamp and Stephanie Fabick. Cross bearer will be Brianna Hinnenkamp with Tyler Hinnenkamp serving as scripture bearer. Gift bearers will be Tina Wolken, Pete Hinnenkamp, and Lori Buttwieler. Readers will be David Hinnenkamp and Bob Niehaus. Petitions will be read by Sherry Hosford. Honorary bearers will be Eddie Bussman, Joe Pohlmann, Ervie Duevel, Ronnie Thieschafer, Mike Stevens, Ed Pohlmann, Dave Theiler, Butch Niehaus, Tony Niehaus, Eddie Niehaus, Richard Hinnenkamp, Leonard Hinnenkamp, Melvin Hinnenkamp, Pete Gieske, Robert Hinnenkamp, and Donnie Hinnenkamp.
